Transitioning to Fall Fashion in a Plus Size World

Transitioning to Fall Fashion in a Plus Size World

While some of us revel in the bliss of long hot summer days and the feeling of sun-kissed shoulders in our favourite summer dresses, others prefer the coziness of Fall and the fun that goes with layering our looks. With the cooler temperatures, you'll surely need some new pieces, but many of your summer items can serve you well into the new season. We're here to show you how.

The key for Fall transitioning is to layer up while maintaining the right balance.

MAXIS TO THE MAX

Your wonderful maxi dresses can go the distance by adding a belted blazer or a cardi, which will also serve to define your waist and warm you up. Throw on a pair booties to complete the Autumn vibe.

Here are a few of our all-season maxi dresses that you can still rock into September and October.

LEGGINGS UP!

By adding leggings to any short dress or tunic, or even your skirts, you can get extra mileage from your fav summer styles and play with textures and patterns. Consider stripes and florals, or solids with prints. There are so many fun plus size leggings available these days from a multitude of stores, it's easy to have fun with your gams.

Try our super soft best-selling leggings in olive or navy shown here:

JEAN JACKETS, CARDIS and KIMONOS

Summer dresses and even jumpsuits can be paired with a jean jacket or a cardi or kimono to carry you into the Fall months. Consider booties for the early part of the season, and taller boots for when it gets colder. Cardis and kimonos are fabulous wardrobe staples that make any look appear more put-together, or refined as it were, and they're an easy way to complete a look without overthinking it.

YOU SAY JUMP, I SAY SUIT UP!

Jumpsuits have consistently been on-trend for the past few years and they continue to be a hot commodity. Consider switching your footwear again to a bootie or a closed-toe pump, and keep rocking your jumpsuits well into Fall. Dress down the look with a cute cropped jean jacket and voila! And remember some jumpsuits can also be worn as formal wear depending on the design, like the black ruffle one shown below.

LIGHTEN UP!

Fall doesn't have to be gloomy. Bring your corals, pinks, reds, greens, blues, and even lavenders into the coming season. Coral paired with olive is just glorious after all. The contrast of pink and black is striking. Red, lavender and the right touch of grey will brighten any Fall day. The trick to transitioning is to simply start introducing darker colours into your outfits but with a pop of colour. Think of burgundy and khaki, fabulous fall colours that look phenomenal with many lighter colours.

IT'S A JUNGLE OUT THERE

Animal prints aren't going anywhere... unless it's out in full force through the rest of the year and into 2020. Add solid accessories to tone down your animal print staple piece (dress, top, bottom or jumpsuit) with black or beige shoes, bags and accessories.
